2012 Illinois Primary

Another day, another primary. Another state full of liberals, another win for Mitt Romney. Illinois is the latest to weigh in and weigh in they have. The result here isn't terribly unexpected given the lopsided representation caused by Chicago. A problem most states with large urban areas face. City gets what it wants, damn the rest of you. Ah well, such is politics.

Results for Illinois, 100% precincts reporting

Mitt Romney - 47% (428,434 votes, 43 delegates)
Rick Santorum - 35% (321,079 votes, 10 delegates)
Ron Paul - 9% (85,464 votes)
Newt Gingrich - 8% (72,942 votes)

Delegate Totals to Date

Mitt Romney: 563 delegates.
Rick Santorum: 263 delegates.
Newt Gingrich: 135 delegates.
Ron Paul: 50 delegates.

1,144 required to win.

There was also a pirmary in Puerto Rico over the weekend that got very little coverage. A detailed breakdown isn't even available, but Romney won and took all 20 delegates at stake there. It ain't over yet. Romney's lead isn't as strong as it looks with several more southern states left to play.

You know, it's interesting that, even at this stage of the game, while Ron Paul is still trailing, by a lot, he's still making a significant showing in so many states.

Just ran across this article and thought you might find it.. interesting. It's about Mr. Santorum suggesting that his foot fits his mouth perfectly... ;)
