2012 New England Primaries
Do you hear that, Mr. Gingrich? That is the sound of inevitability. It is the sound of your defeat. Goodbye, Mr. Gingrich.
So it is done, so shall it be written. With Rick Santorum's exit from the race 2 weeks ago, the process was set in motion for Mitt Romney to secure nomination. A process that should not have taken as long as it did to decide a candidate. A process that for all intents and purposes is over. Not just because Romney won fair and square either, but because Newt Gingrich's campaign is utterly broke. They're so far in debt there's no getting out of it now, and he's been forced to consider suspending his campaign. I expect that despite all the rhetoric to the contrary that Gingrich will drop out soon. Perhaps as early as next week.
The victory was a sound drubbing in every conceivable way, here's the breakdown:
Rhode Island - 100% precincts reporting.
Mitt Romney - 63% (9,157 votes, 15 delegates)
Ron Paul - 24% (3,462 votes, 4 delegates)
Newt Gingrich - 6% (878 votes)
Pennsylvania - 100% precincts reporting.
Mitt Romney - 58% (463,865 votes, 72 delegates)
Ron Paul - 13% (105,331 votes)
Newt Gingrich - 10% (83,775 votes)
New York - 75% precincts reporting.
Mitt Romney - 62% (95,310 votes, 72 delegates)
Ron Paul - 16% (24,066 votes)
Newt Gingrich - 13% (19,747 votes)
Connecticut - 100% precincts reporting.
Mitt Romney - 67% (39,763 votes, 28 delegates)
Ron Paul - 13% (7,940 votes)
Newt Gingrich - 10% (6,054 votes)
Delaware - 100% precincts reporting.
Mitt Romney - 56% (16,143 votes, 17 delegates)
Newt Gingrich - 27% (7,741 votes)
Ron Paul - 11% (3,017 votes)
Delegate Totals to Date 1,144 required to win.
Mitt Romney: 824 delegates.
Rick Santorum: 260 delegates.
Newt Gingrich: 137 delegates.
Ron Paul: 79 delegates.
It should have become clear with this that the math is now in Romney's favor to have a lock on this even if Gingrich is stupid enough to stay in. Santorum's delegates are beginning to disperse and will only continue to do so between now and June. Now if we could just get Ron Paul to go away too.

RIP United States of America
July 1776 - November 2012.
Hell yeah I'd vote for Costello (and I'll be of age for the next election). I think him and Hockey would make the perfect treasurer/prime minister combination. I'm also looking forward to seeing Labor's 'surplus' going belly up.
FYI - It's official now. Romney just secured the necessary delegates with a win in the Texas primary. He now has 1174 delegates, with 1144 having been required.
But Romney is a Mexican, he cannot run for president. LOL Romney's Own Birther Issues.
Only in America is all i can say about this, only in America.

Maybe you missed it...
George Romney is Mitt Romney's father. Which... has jack shit to do with Mitt Romney since he was born in Michigan. Oh, and you'll note, Mitt Romney had no qualms about handing over his birth certificate and didn't spend his first 2 years IN OFFICE trying to hide that.

No, i did not miss it, i thought the whole thing was totally idiotic, even for the farther. I mean, come on, it does not matter if you are physically born on the moon, if one of your parents is a citizen of the USA, you automatically are a citizen of the USA.
I have a friend who is Greek, both his parents are Greek and he was born in Egypt while his parents waited for a transfer to another ship when they migrated to Australia. My friend is no more Egyptian as Romney Snr is Mexican. This is why the entire thing is stupid and in the case of Obama it did not matter where he was born, only that his mother was a natural born citizen and by virtue of blood and the law, so was he. Which was the case for Romney Snr who was born in Mexico.

Actually, no, the law at the time of Obama's birth was such that she could not confer citizenship on him by blood. She wasn't 21 yet. His father wasn't a citizen. That's why there was such a huge controversy over it when he refused to produce proof of his natural born status.
I really don't get why people made such a fuss over it. The Constitution is what it is, the article has never been repealed by amendment. Obama refused to provide proof. It left things in a bad way, and it's obvious he did so deliberately as a political ploy.
This whole thing with trying to do it to Romney is complete bullshit since both parents are American citizens and Mitt was born in Michigan. Just like it was bullshit when the lefties went after McCain despite knowing full well what his status was.

Rand, I'd like to stick that cigar so far up your Santorum hole, that it tickles wetehvar you've got for a brain. It's all about property, indeed. That MFer has GOT to be the dumbest SOB in history to ever be in a Senate well known to be a bastion hide-away spot for the entitled dumb SOB's from every f'in state!Jesus H. Christ in a F'in Straightjacket, the crazies in the family used to have the decency and common sense to stay the f*ck home and STFU if their families forgot to lock them up in the attic or basement. Now they control the House, and are damn close to getting the Senate. And it's not as if the R candidates aren't all Psych Ward worthy!!!Yes, even congenital liar Fill-in the __________ Mitt, and Huntsman, who's just a stopped clock with a few more hands than Rands daddy, Ron the Rand fan.'OY!!!
Once again Ron Paul</a> is blacked out of the qusiteons for most of the so-called debate. One question he was asked, what would you do to save the Everglades? Good God-Almighty, our country is going down the tubes and the moderator asks such a stupid question!!?? These debates are a farce ..they only want to focus on Romney and Gingrich, period .even Santorum got a bit more to say than Ron Paul. For God's sake Americans, can't you see what the media is doing to you??
Um. Ok. That Ron Paul statement seems mildly out of place... and why didn't I notice it before? Ah well. Dude's finished anyway. Romney won. Deal.
On to some more good election news. Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin has survived his recall vote. Good thing too, because I can't fathom why anyone living there would want to go back to a time where the state had a massive deficit and crippling unemployment. Walker came in, kicked the unions in the ass, and turned the deficit into a surplus while getting unemployment there down to 6.7%. All while ALSO lowering property taxes. So... yeah. Proof that conservatism works.

Yeah. Fully expected this. Can't defeat him in the general election. Can't stop his policies from being implemented via the state congress. Can't defeat him in a recall vote - or his lieutenant governor for that matter. Still not happy? Kill him. Yeah. That's mature. Proof that progressivism isn't interested in free and fair elections, nor do they give a flying shit about the will of the people.
I hope this starts a wave of states passing similar measures to bust the public sector unions. They are a cancer on our entire system and it needs to be excised.

Yep, a few idiots on Twitter are indisputable proof that every single progressive is a crazy murderous junkie ready to stop at nothing to implement their communist agenda. Also, how does this give further justification to stamping out the public sector unions. I don't see the link between this and some random death threats?
I'm struck by the resemblance to Benny Morris claiming that Arafat's refusal of the 2000 Camp David peace accords is proof that the Palestinians all want Israel destroyed, despite the fact that the polls showed that a sizable majority of Palestinians supported the final position offered.
Don't let logic or numbers get in the way of a pre-determined hatred.

1. Because progressives never act any other way, and this stuff with Walker isn't proof by itself, it just adds to the overwhelming body of evidence out there.
2. Public sector unions were even despised by one of the most progressive presidents ever - Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Even he acknowledged they were dangerous.
3. There's no such thing as a Palestinian. We've been over this. Your irrational biased hatred of Israel has been noted many MANY times.

1) Well, except all that non violent protesting they were doing beforehand in Wisconsin. Also, I can't really think of any instances of progressives using death threats to achieve policy outcome. Oh well.
2) So? I've got no love for the unions, but crushing them entirely isn't exactly a positive outcome for freedom.
3) Sigh. For one, I was having a dig at a particular historian, who I actually have a good deal of respect for. Although, that 'there's no such thing as a Palestinian' line may get a few chuckles from an Israeli.

1. Non-violent protesting isn't how progressives operate. Though the media would love to convince you of that.
2. Nobody is crushing them entirely. Only the ones for government employees. Also making membership voluntary, and as a result, watching thousands upon thousands of people renouncing that membership, which is the real reason the unions in Wisconsin are pissed.
3. Do we really need to keep going into this?

I guess I could bother to refute this by noting all the conservative fringe whackjobs that do the same thing, or how much of a raging god damned asshole you sound like, but I really need to go hide all these bodies of conservatives I just straight up murdered like a gangsta.
You could, but I'm hard pressed to see where I'm being a "raging god damned asshole" in simply expressing my opinion on Walker's victory and the fact that progressives are issuing death threats against him because they can't handle losing an election.
Also, considering that SEIU and the AFL-CIO alone outnumber any of these fringe groups you might bring up by a margin of 100 to 1 easy, it wouldn't really be relevant. Conservative fringe groups weren't the ones breaking windows on the House building in Wisconsin. Union members were. Conservative fringe groups weren't the ones "occupying" other peoples' private property. Progressive fringe groups were. Conservative fringe groups weren't hiring Black Panther members to intimidate voters in Florida in 2008. Progressive groups were.
In fact, I can't even find anything in the conservative OR liberal press about anything relevant to any of this that conservative fringe groups have been up to lately. Nothing on CNN, nothing on MSNBC, nothing on Fox, nothing in the archives for local media, and nothing on the LA Times website either.
It sounds more to me like a lot of people are just angry that conservatism is winning out. As if anyone should have expected otherwise given this country is still a majority conservative. Perhaps we're just sick of the way the progressive minority is trying to trample our rights?

I mean, why would I, as a progressive, as a guy who's done nothing but call you out every single time you've started talking about the need for armed revolution, as a guy who's gone out of his way to not tar every conservative with the whackjob brush, as a guy who's tried very hard not to demonize conservatives and debate them on the merits, why would I be offended at you lumping every single progressive including me in with jackass vandals and thugs?
It just doesn't make any sense.
Well, chances are, you're not actually a progressive? Last I checked, such people despise military action in all forms and that's not a vibe I've ever gotten from you.
Yes, I appreciate that irony. That progressives despise the military yet resort to violence on an extremely regular basis to get what they want.
If I HAD to pick a label to give you, it would be "left leaning moderate". But you don't like labels, so I won't do that

Have we not done this before? Do i need to get out my list of Conservative wingnuts who have ACTUALLY killed people like abortion doctors and gay people. Lets just face it, there are wingnut republicans and wingnut democrats and the farther away from centre you get, the more wingnuttier they become.
No, I don't really think we need to get into it, because I'm pretty sure the list of leftist wingnuts would take me weeks to assemble
I would not be all too concerned with leftist extremism in your country, the real growth sector is in extreme right politics specifically armed militias and patriot groups. If anyone is going to start a big shit fight, it will come from here. At least that is what your FBI thinks.
Our FBI has a lot of strange ideas about where the shitstorm will originate. We tend to ignore them most of the time since they're approaching the same crackpot status as the TSA these days.
Also, just to be clear in case it wasn't, while I fully expect there is a civil war or revolution coming, I'm certainly not advocating that as a solution. Certain states seceding, yes, but secession is not equivalent to open rebellion. It's the ultimate expression of States' Rights. There would only be a war if the Feds insist on starting one, and I guarantee you, if something drives a state toward secession as a solution, they're likely to be fully prepared to win that fight.
