Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye

Went to see Transformers on Thursday. Just now getting around to mentioning it today. I thought overall the movie was quite good.

The backstory they came up with for it was actually very interesting and as far as I'm concerned fits in just fine. The tale of how the All Spark ended up on Earth, how the decepticons and autobots ended up here, and what happened to their homeworld of Cybertron works in quite well. It didn't come off as cheesy or insane. Obviously this is sci-fi so if you're expecting it to be believable in some way, try again.

The main storyline centers around the interaction between two main groups: Sam and his interaction with the autobots, and the US military's interaction with the decepticons. Both of these flow quite well independently. When the time comes for the two lines to merge, they do so rather well. They also didn't make the robots too invincible, which would likely have caused some serious problems.

If you're a fan of the old cartoon series from the 80s you'll probably noticed a few things that were changed. But none of this is enough to ruin anything unless you're a serious diehard who can't stand it when even one small detail isn't right. This movie wasn't meant to be that. However you should be happy to note that the voice of Optimus Prime is the same as the one from the cartoon. Which added a nice touch to things.

The special affects are top notch. We all know these robots were done as CGI but you won't notice that unless you're looking REALLY close for the slightest little telltale sign. Just don't ruin your experience by trying to overexamine. Enjoy the many battle scenes and all the cool stuff you'd expect from a movie like this.

So don't miss out on this one. It's well worth a trip to your local theater. By the way, don't leave when the credits start. There's stuff mixed in with the first portion of them that's important :)

Bittorent, bittorent, yeah~

Ever notice the Autobots symbol looks like a lion/cat face, and the decepticon symbol looks like a bird face?

Can't say that I had, but, okay, I can see it...
