Friend or Foe

So I went in for my unemployment hearing today. I'll have more on that after the ruling, the post dealing with it is going to stay unpublished until after I've seen the decision. But one bit of information came to light during evidence and testimony that made me realize something. You can't trust people, even those who call you their friend.

Now that I have your attention you're probably wondering what this is all about. Those of you who may recall know that when Behr sacked me back in March I posted a lengthy and detailed accounting of my opinion of the whole thing. Several of my former co-workers have seen that posting. So imagine my surprise when, while pouring through the mountain of paperwork the HR rep tried to drown the judge in, I came across a printout from one of my posts here. As you can imagine, I didn't tell her about it. I certainly didn't volunteer it up to anyone else in management. I had even taken steps to keep their prying eyes from the site by blocking the company network from visiting. A block that's still in place to this day.

Yep. You guessed it. One of the people I did tell passed that information along to management or HR. They were of course too cowardly to identify themselves and the HR rep didn't know where the posting had actually come from due to the lack of identifying marks. So I'm pretty happy the judge displayed that he had brains and ruled it inadmissible as evidence. But it at least tells me that someone who still works there decided that turning it in to HR was more important than our friendship. It further demonstrates that the HR department is run by weasels with no honor if they'd even try to have something like that used against me.

To whoever did this, shame on you. I trusted all of you and this is the payback I get? One of you turns on me like a rat deserting a sinking ship? Well I hope that in your heart of hearts you think you did the right thing because I can guarantee you that when your turn comes before the axe of termination the company isn't going to care about how you tried to help them build a case against me. The irony here would be that the company shapes up and realizes what an unethical thing that was to do and that they use the weasel act against you.

Well. I guess that's that then.
