How to Kill an Iguanadon?

I survived another week on the streets of war!

So I'm on my way to work, minding my own business in the center lane of traffic. Keeping my eye on the people to my right because they looked suspiciously impatient. Good thing too, because the punkass jumps into the center lane right in front of me. Cue brake slamming. Cue the horn. Um, no, I didn't say cue the punkass' brakes! So here I am, slamming my brakes harder and laying on the horn as the bastard tried to airbag me! As it's happening, I'm thinking "where are the damn cops when you need them?". Cue the cops. Yes, that's right, as this is happening I look in the mirror to see the light bar come on, hear the familiar siren warble. So like a good little citizen, I move over a lane. Cop pulls up behind the bastard, and I hear over the loudspeaker: "Driver, pull over to the side immediately." Traffic justice.

The gods cursed me coming home though. I checked traffic at at 2:55pm, right before leaving work. Only to see that someone might as well have just turned off the freeways. Nothing but red indicators everywhere. So surface roads it is. And the idiot squad was out in force. I try and use the center lanes whenever possible to reduce my encounters but everyone was determined to try and run me into them. I must have a target painted on the hood. And this time the cops were decidedly NOT on my side as I got no less than 5 dirty looks from officers as I tried to pass them coming home. General rule: If they scowl at you, slow down. 30 minute penalty for having to obey the speed limits. Ouch.

Well. I guess that's that then.

At least it's not the 30 minute penalty and a day off of work to hang out in traffic court instead for disobeying those speed limits while a cop was watching. ;)

Oh, at this point I'd almost relish having my day in court over the foulness of speed limits for the sake of revenue enhancement. They aren't posted for safety. Not when a major 3 lane street has a speed limit of 35mph.

But we have to protect the little kids who might decide to play in that street since we all know it's unreasonable to expect their parents to teach them to stay out of the street and to look both ways before crossing the street. ;)
