State of the Union 2013

Going to keep this one real short, real sweet. The liar in cheap told an hour's worth of complete whoppers tonight. The whole thing was nothing but one long and ridiculous propaganda laden tirade against the Constitution and everything our Founders stood for.

"Lying Sack of Shit" best describes how I feel about him tonight. I know, big surprise, right?

Pic very much related.
"It is pointless to resist, my son." -- Darth Vader
"Resistance is futile." -- The Borg
"Mother's coming for me in the dragon ships. I don't like these itchy clothes, but I have to wear them or it frightens the fish." -- Thurindil

Well. I guess that's that then.

So WTF. Now there's been a meteor streaking over San Fransisco (out to sea) and ANOTHER one in Cuba that set off a shockwave felt on the ground? :grey:

I think you are under attack from the :grey:

@Samson: Saw those in the news online last night too, after you'd posted about it.. it's more than a little astounding. We get meteor strikes all the time, but not usually so many of such significance so frequently. I'm telling you, some days I really do feel like maybe we've overstayed our welcome on this planet and God's using natural disasters and such to tell us to find our way out the door already. :obgate:

@Fury: That was my joke the other day on here... but it wouldn't be Samson, or even us over here, first Russia, then the US and Cuba.. seems pretty worldwide to me, in fact, at that rate y'all or China or some such should be next.

Yeah sorry i missed it, it was on the previous page and did not see it till just now.

China has been developing a huge smog cloud over their entire country for the last 30 years to obscure vision of it from space, thus making targeting it programmatic. China has a history in this regard in making big things to protect itself, Great Wall of China, of course the obvious example, used in the reign of Emperor Nasi Goren, to keep the rabbits out. (See:

As for us Aussies, we are too insignificant and drunk a nation to notice what the buggery is going on anyways. So, me bogans, where is me beers.

Worth noting there was yet another meteor last night, this time off the east coast of Florida. Visible from Key West to Jacksonville.

And another:

I guess I didn't just imagine seeing this outside my window last night.

It's The Horkerpocalypse. Must be. :horker:

 :horker: <- these are new...

With all these meteors in rapid succession (well ones of significant enough size to catch the world's attention like this anyway), one has to wonder if we're passing particularly closely to the meteor belt this year or something.

Trollface should be obvious. The horker, perhaps not so much :P

And yeah, I think it's obvious we're passing through a larger meteor cloud than usual. Perhaps there was an asteroid collision recently.

Yes, trollface is fairly self-explanatory (though I'm not so sure it looks as much like what it's supposed to be as it could, but I've never met a fantasy troll in real life so, who knows. ;)

The horker, I take it is something out of Skyrim.. what you'd use it for here, I have no idea...

Either that or someone really is directing these meteors at us. Maybe, that'd explain it nicely.
You'd think that if either were the case, our boys at NASA would be making an announcement to allay the fears of the mob that this is all we'll be seeing or how many more there are still expected.. maybe even where they're expected to strike.

Bloody rain, QLD is back on flood alert, yet again, I am totally over it. Must be time for another drought, this wet weather is just not fun anymore.

Y'know, I found it hilarious when ABC News 24 was sending out flood warnings AND fire warnings simultaneously earlier in the summer (of course, it isn't funny for the people affected).

I don't know about where y'all live, but we have been hit with a lot of rain so far this year, but I, personally, still don't really feel like we've had quite enough here yet. I'd really like to have some nice healthy crops next fall, but it requires lots of rain this spring to make up for the heat we'll see over the summer.

I can understand why it'd sound ironic hearing simultaneous flood and fire warnings, but it's actually kind of logical that they might come together. Not only might flooding bring down power lines, but the rains that bring that flooding is likely to have lightning accompanying it. Having served in the Navy, I would also point out that a fire in the midst of water can be the worst case scenario since you obviously can't fight that fire with water.
