Tax Refund Theft

So you're going to get a tax refund from the State of California? Think again friend. The state announced today that as of February 1st, all tax refunds will be delayed by 30 days. The reasons cited for this? The deficit.

Excuse me? You spend yourselves into a morass of debt and giveaway programs at the expense of taxpayers and you expect we'll just forgive you for stealing money from us that never belonged to you in the first place? Controller John Chiang says "his office must continue education and debt payments but will defer money for tax refunds, student aid, social services and mental health programs." I call bullshit. If you can't pay your debts, file bankruptcy like everyone else. If you're forced to pay education costs and that cripples your available funding, perhaps it's time to think about not spending so much money on it. Throwing money at your problems clearly hasn't worked so far. And exactly what do you call student aid? Isn't that an education cost? Or aren't college students here worth investing money in at all?

There's a hell of a lot of pork and waste in the state budget you could be getting rid of. Start with the 900 pound gorilla that's still standing in the room. End all payments of any sort to illegal aliens. That alone would eliminate your deficit problems and make you solvent overnight. But no. Nobody wants to talk about 4 million illegals sitting around in California leeching the state dry of money. That's racist! Stop the payments. Save the budget. Those people will go back where they came from once you remove the magnet that's drawing them here. A whole lot of the state's problems will leave with them.

Well. I guess that's that then.

Must be nice for them that they can get away with that. Wouldn't it be cool if the rest of us could do that with our debts too? "Hey, Mr. Banker, I'm not going to pay my mortgage or car loan payments this year because I need to take care of my credit card payments first, but don't worry, I won't be filing for bankruptcy so you can't foreclose or reposses since the State of California has already set the precedent." :P

Well here's to hoping I don't get ripped off. My federal and state returns were filed this morning online. Damn former employer dragged their ass on getting my W-2 to me on time.

Good luck! :)
