Blast From the Past
How's this for a blast from the past? Got bored and decided to see how far back the archive of this site at went. This was the closest one to the launch they had, a mere 10 days. The difference is pretty amazing.

LOL, nice.
Was your gallery full of Oblivion pics back then too? ;)

Heh, no, all the Oblivion pics came a bit later, and those have been steadily on the rise ever since.

It's too bad I don't still have a copy of that skin from back in the day, it would have made a nice retro or low-fi skin or something.

That's pretty cool that had it that close to inception. Are you going to start offering users choice of skins too?

Personally, no, I like the skin the way it is. Once this template conversion is done it will be dead simple for someone to offer a different skin or two or ten or whatever. They can even be radically different from each other since the template system doesn't need anything more than the specific data points to populate with.

If it doesn't end up being too much of a hassle I may include the old classic skin Kiasyn had, or at the very least its color scheme.

I like this skin myself as well, though I could see using a nice dark shade of blue instead of black if it were my site, but you've been to my sites and know that's just me. ;)

:sigh: I suppose if you must.. after all, it probably is good to offer the package itself with a couple of "default" skins to demonstrate some of the possibilities and Kiasyn's original skin was only horrendous to some of us (when it was still barely technically released - I think Ravelor and I and Dragona all pretty much hated it "out of the box";) and only because of the color scheme. ;)

Well you could always try using a local stylesheet. I'd certainly be curious to see the results of fiddling with the CSS.

Well his original color scheme was bad, yes, but I disliked it for the garish use of tables where this skin is silky smooth and only uses tables for the calendar and the image nav links.

If it's a temporary thing just so you can see the effects of playing with the CSS in a local style sheet, maybe I'll give it a shot and take some screen shots for you. Otherwise I have no real desire to change the look/feel of your blog site.

See, to me the use of tables really isn't that big a deal, I don't have to look at the html all that often anyway, but those colors were right there in your face every visit. ;)
